About Us

Shin Sen means "free person". Another translations is "conscious being" or one who has awakened their inner most abilities and life power (ki).

The Shin Sen Dojo was founded in Sydney, 1981, by Sensei Ken McLean, after intensive research and training in various ki energy arts. He came upon the original stream (ryu) or source of mind and body disciplines and healing arts called ‘Shin Sen Do’ in Japanese.

Sensei Ken McLean has trained in Ki, Aikido and the Aiki Healing Arts for over 30 years. He is asked to present to corporations, tertiary institutions and groups throughout Australia. He is also one of the leading macrobiotic counselors in Australia and is part of the greater, world wide network of Macrobiotic counselors.

Peter Hons
has trained intensively in Ki, Aikido and the Aiki Healing Arts under Sensei Ken McLean for over 17 years. He ran Blue Mountains Shin Sen Dojo until founding Tamworth Shin Sen Dojo in 2000.

He has presented to and trained individuals, corporations, tertiary institutions and other health professionals throughout NSW.

All Shin Sen Arts are centred around the unification and development of body, mind and spirit. The principal factor in this process is the cultivation and refinement of ki.
